What is Echoes Beyond?

Echoes Beyond is a free, browser-based 4X strategy MMO — eXplore, eXpand, eXploit, eXterminate — in the spirit of OGame, Hades’ Star and Stellaris, built around one persistent galaxy that every player shares. There are no shards and no instances, and there is nothing to install: it runs in the browser tab you already have open.

You play a galactic commander. Your colony is not a planet but a whole star system — nine orbits, moons and stations, eighteen build slots — and you can hold up to twenty-five of them in a galaxy of two million. The server simulates everything continuously: mines produce while you sleep, research completes on its own clock, and fleets travel in real time whether or not you are watching.

// What You Actually Do

The loop, in six verbs.

Build

Upgrade buildings, research technologies, and queue ships across the star systems you hold.

Explore

Send scouts down hyperlanes to chart unknown systems, and be the first to see what waits there.

Expand

Colonise new systems — up to twenty-five, rising with research — and shape each one differently.

Project power

Move fleets in real time along visible routes, and read the round-by-round battle report after.

TradeIn development

Post orders on a galaxy-wide market and run freight for other commanders.

CoordinateIn development

Join alliances, share intel, agree on borders — or break every agreement you make.

A fifteen-minute session covers build queues, the next research and a scout run; a long evening can drive a colonisation push across a whole cluster. And every number the game computes — production rates, build times, battle damage — is spelled out in the tooltip, formula and all. No hidden math, no fan-wiki archaeology.

// Where It Stands

Honest about what exists.

Built and running in internal testing today: the two-million-system galaxy, system colonisation and development, the full research tree, seventeen ship hulls, twelve defense structures, real-time fleet movement, and multi-round combat against the galaxy’s NPC powers — with seeded, auditable battle reports.

Still in development: the galaxy market, formal alliances, and player-versus-player warfare. We would rather show you a roadmap than sell you a promise — the roadmap is public, and so is the codex the game is documented in.
